General Conception Virtual Education
Welcome to this first session. As first activity, you must answer the following questions according to your prior knowledge and your experience:
1. What is your conception about virtual education?
2. What do you know about its origin, and its current use?
3. What might happen in the future with the virtual education?
4. What do you know about E-learning, B-Learning and M- learning?
5. What is the situation of virtual education in Colombia?

5. What is the situation of virtual education in Colombia?

1. Despite all the benefits, widely evidenced, offered by virtual education
ReplyDeletein a teaching / learning process, and according to Perez Ayala (2011), who
maintains that technology is not the solution to educational problems, but a
facilitator of learning, it is necessary to examine under what conditions
pedagogical and didactic has been developed a virtual education program, for
be able to guarantee its effectiveness and quality.
2. Remember that while the pedagogy has the mission to answer the why and the for education, didactics is an exercise in reflection and analysis of the
teaching / learning processes and is committed to the permanent improvement of
these through inquiring practices and training actions.
In virtual education as in any other educational level, it is of vital importance
know how to select a theoretical model that can support decisions at the
pedagogic and didactic. It is very common, for example, to observe educational practices virtual studies that have as a theoretical basis, the constructivist current of Lev Vygotsky to be able to encourage collaborative learning. It is also possible to observe some virtual education programs based on the model of meaningful learning of David Ausubel, where you try to generate new knowledge based on what the
student has previously learned.
3. However, in virtual education it is necessary to adapt a theoretical model so that
only meets the pedagogical and didactic demands but also the technological ones.
Models such as TPACK (technological, pedagogical and Content Knowledge)
proposed by Mishra and Koehler (2009), seek the best way to unify the content
technological and pedagogical within an educational process. For its part, the model
SAMR (Puentedura, 2006), seeks to improve learning activities with the use
intention of ICT, through the actions of Substitute, Increase, Modify and
Redefine elements of face-to-face classes through the use of tools
virtual
4. as teachers who seek to bring an educational process to the
virtuality, it is imperative to also reflect on the needs of our
students, the educational context, the learning objectives, the skills that
we want them to develop, in order to choose one or another theoretical model
to help us support our actions
5. In colombia, we are really behind in relation to the state of the art of virtual education. I know some universities such as Universidad Catolica has some programs in the modality of virtual education. Unimayor wit the iniciative Unimayor virtual in Popayán has as well some programs with virtual education. But universities in Colombia do not offer MOOCs for example and this is a very important modality of education.
